We are looking for a motivated and friendly individual to be our Director of Nursing, who will lead and manage the Surgical Center Staff and patient care at the facility. This position will have the overall responsibility of Directing the clinical and accreditation activities for the Surgery Center.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Works with the Surgical Center Administrator to create and execute the AAAHC Clinical Department plan within the defined budget and to achieve ongoing accreditation of the Surgical Center.
  • Develops proper clinical procedures that ensure patient safety, comfort, and quality.
  • Develops appropriate admission and discharge procedures and assures that pre-admission criterion are appropriately met.
  • Researches and prepares cost reduction proposals and implements them as applicable.
  • Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to appropriate team members.
  • Coordinate, staff and schedule the Medical Staff team to meet the patient and physician needs while developing a cohesive team and delivering superior patient care experience
  • Manage & report (weekly) on the patient scheduling process and surgical/non-surgical bookings to ensure: 1) staff coverage 2) revenue maximization and 3) physician & patient readiness for procedures
  • This is a hands-on nursing position. In addition to administrative responsibilities, they should be able to function as a preop, intraop or pacu nurse if need be.
  • Works with the Administrator to assure compliance with all Clinic policies and procedures and governmental regulations pertaining to:
    • Controlled substances and legend drugs, including sample medications.
    • Infection control.
    • Patient confidentiality.
    • CPR, ACLS, safety and risk management in collaboration with Clinic Safety Coordinator and HR.
    • Quality improvement and quality assurance.
    • Emergency codes and evacuation
    • Maximize the patient scheduling process to ensure proper coverage and to meet or exceed the weekly assigned revenue targets & appointment metrics
  • Ensure that the Medical Staff team is current & timely with all patient charting, medical consents, medical clearances, patient surgical packets, surgical documentation, and EMR administration
  • Develop/ Work with the Center Administrator to maintain and roll out department process flows, procedures and policies to ensure consistent delivery of service & tasks and hold the staff accountable in following them
  • Ensure readiness and set up of the treatment rooms to be ready for the current and next day patients
  • Build & develop a strong team of Medical Staff who are supportive, positive, and flexible and work well with each other and the other departments within the practice.
  • Be an advocate for our patients by identifying areas to improve our patient experience through observation and patient feedback obtained through the patients.
  • Interact positively with all other members of the team
  • Handle escalated patient medical issues & emergencies as they arise

  • The Director of Nursing will be expected to maintain a flexible schedule to participate in management, staff and departmental meetings, training sessions and practice events such as cosmetic functions and open-house events.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Must have a current State of New Jersey Nursing License.
  • Minimum 5 years of full time or full-time equivalent experience in Nursing Supervision and or Nursing Administration in a licensed healthcare facility.
  • Preoperative and/or Post anesthesia nursing experience required.
  • Ambulatory Surgery experience required..
